FIBROID UTERUS (HYSTERECTOMY)

The uterus is surgically removed during a hysterectomy. Although it is not required for fibroid treatment, the ovaries may be removed. If previous therapies have failed or are not appropriate, a hysterectomy is a permanent therapy for fibroids.

After a hysterectomy, a woman is unable to conceive. Hysterectomy causes quick menopause if the ovaries are removed along with the uterus.
