COLPOSCOPY

A colposcopy is a basic technique that examines the cervix, which is the bottom section of the womb located at the top of the vaginal canal. If your cervix is found to have abnormal cells after a cervical screening, you may need this procedure.

These cells usually go away on their own, but there’s a chance that if they’re not treated, they could turn into cervical cancer. A colposcopy can identify whether your cervix cells are abnormal and whether you need treatment to eliminate them.
